ABOUT

Before Studio 4C, Sam Ventura spent years learning what it means to serve the music. He grew up in Northeast Ohio, taught guitar at fourteen, and recorded his first EP in a venue basement at fifteen, the moment the room itself became interesting to him. He studied Music Technology at Kent State while serving in the Ohio Army National Guard, gigging professionally in pit orchestras, running live sound, and mixing post-production for the university's entire Music Technology program. He graduated with the credential and the calluses. He went on to earn an MFA in Recording Arts from MTSU, studying in Nashville under Bil VornDick, one of the great engineers in American roots music history. His first major credit from that period, the April Verch record, was nominated for a Juno Award. He graduated in May 2019. By January 2020 he was a panelist at Winter NAMM alongside multi-Grammy winner F. Reid Shippen. March 2020, the world stopped. July 2020, New York.New York opened every door at once. He mixed Nightly News, the 4th Hour of Today, and flagship MSNBC programming at NBC. He did Twitch stream mixing and post-production mixing for Rolling Stone. He composed for Nissan and Zippo through Hey Pete Productions. He recorded and mixed the Webby-nominated audio play Bad People by Kati Schwartz. At SAE Institute of Technology he became a full-time Senior Instructor, developed a nationally accredited curriculum, and was promoted to Director of Education.Sam plays guitar, bass, and piano. Engineers who are also musicians hear differently. They understand what an artist is reaching for before the artist can say it.Studio 4C is where all of it lives now.Twenty years of sessions. Still learning.
